It was one of three resorts built by the contractor group Kraemer Brothers alongside Blue Harbor Resort and Concord, NC. The resort opened in the fall of 2005 with Starbucks opening the following year. Great Wolf Lodge Pocono Mountains, PA was first announced around 2004. Note the white material on the main area of the building, which was covered by the wooden cladding later on in the construction. Check out was easy- just a text message and we were checkout.GWL Pocono Mtns, PA under construction. We returned to our room Tuesday after visiting the water park and our door was slightly open. Be sure to close your door and ensure it is closed. My husband and I had French dips and the meat and bread were loaded with grease. Service was great but food was very greasy. Every employee we spoke with was kind and helpful.

Some of the staircases in the water park are showing age, but we never felt unsafe at all. If you need a locker, bring a credit card- lockers are $15 a day and you cannot scan your wristband. The water park was busy Sunday and Monday, but lines were not bad. We stayed on the 4th floor and didn’t have an issue with noise. Bathroom is super small but living area was large. Check in was a zoo because their systems were down, but our room was large and clean. We visited April 30-May2nd- I was worried when I saw all the reviews about construction, but the only inconvenience we experienced was parking. this problems are deeply engrained and not just temporary) None of the issues responsible for this 1 star review have anything to do with the construction (i.e. *I’d like to note that I visited during the construction. I was not only not relaxed but the stay was actually stressful for me and I was glad to go home. However, with the money I spent here I would have liked to enjoy myself too. With all that said the kids (ages 6, 10) did have a great time at the water park and were unaware of the major issues that were very apparent to me: an adult. There was an eye stinging amount of chlorine chemicals in the air, which GWL specifically states on their website is filtered out of the air. While I was discovering this an employee was also getting water and made zero attempt to fix it or notify someone who would. The water also had a weird brown tinge to it like the dark soda was leaking into it somehow. The soda fountain in the water park area had no ice and the water was HOT. Instead, they knocked on the door and just handed us towels. The morning of our second day the room was not cleaned. When you check in at the front desk you have to literally yell in order to communicate with staff because it is so loud in the lobby. I can’t even begin to articulate how insanely inappropriate, unsafe, and unprofessional that is. The staff didn’t call her a medic and instead told her to drive to the urgent care down the street. She had obviously suffered a serious concussion. A woman hit her head on a ride and was throwing up in the bathroom. I asked the server how much I had left on the dining credit I prepaid and she couldn’t tell me. I asked multiple employees how much the cabana was. And not only do they not know anything they make zero attempt to ask someone else who might know. While inside the park the first, most obvious, issue I had was the fact none of the employee know anything. Not only was it annoying but it wasn’t even helpful! Without getting too deep into it, their tech needs some serious work. Also- before I arrived I got approximately one bazillion texts from an incredibly annoying bot. This is only a new practice, as deliveries were accepted until 2 weeks ago. Apparently GWL refuses to accept any deliveries and I had to drive to go pick it up. First of all, before I even arrived I got a call from a friend who tried to surprise us with an edible arrangement.
